Alot to talk about!

This is a ribbon embroidery piece I did awhile ago in a class taught by Karen Phillips- Shwallon .I took this class with my Aunt Lowene. I made it into a pillow but decided it was to nice to have as a pillow. So cut up pillow and found this perfect frame for it. I love how it looks  in this frame. Its hanging in my living room.

I finished my cross stitch sewing kit that I started back in 2012. I was going to have Bruce get me the sewing box and pin cushion kit to put it together for Christmas but decided it was to expensive. It would of been over 200.00 and I just couldn't do it. So I found this cute box and it turned out great!

Also been taking a quilt class at Paw Patch in Mt. Vernon and were using a book called mix and match blocks A Comprehensive Handbook by Leisure Arts. It has over 200 blocks you can choose from.
This block is called Chain.

The next 2 blocks are not sewed together yet but cut out and hanging on design wall ready to sew. 1st one is called Card Tricks
and this next block is Swamp Angel.
We still have 3 other blocks to add in.

I love collecting old sewing spools. When my son moved out he didn't want this gumball lamp we had in his room. So I just remembered that and decided to put in craft room and put the vintage spools in the gumball part. I love how it looks in craft room.

The next two items were found at a estate sale. I put this cabinet in craft room

And put this adorable tea cart in kitchen.

Not cheep so did not wanna buy till finished:)
The next picture is the finished piece for the scissor fob. Still need to put it together. Going to use this red fabric and cording on it.
Next picture is needle book all put together.I love how it turned out:)

And this picture is needle book opened up so you can see top and bottom stitching.

And last picture is  top for pin cushion.
Can't wait to get shaker box for sewing box and pin cushion:)
When I get them I will put all together and put pictures on a post.

Wall Quilt

Finished my wall hanging quilt today. I am really happy with how it turned out. It is 19 inches long and 18 inches wide. Here are pics of front and back.

I sewed  3 tabs on top so it can hang on my wall quilt stand.

The next picture is the border and binding.

The next picture is a close up of the back side with quilting.

Bruce really likes the colors and wants a bed size quilt  done like this.
Hummmmmm...........Maybe.........   LOL
Been working all last week on the embroidery set that I want to finish by Christmas so Bruce can get me supplies to put together...... Hint...Hint....Bruce.
Will have that done this month if I keep at it.

I received a phone call today from Calico Cupboard quilt store. To my surprise I am this months winner of a charm pack. I never win anything. I'm going tomorrow to pick it up. I will post picture of fabric pack on next post.
I started a small wall quilt today. I still need to put border and backing on so I can quilt it. In the picture on the top of quilt is a thin piece of fabric that I'm going to use for backing and border.
I'm using a dark brown floss to do a embroidery vine around light inner border and putting tiny buttons in the vine

Chickens:)

Bought this pattern at Red Rooster Quilt shop awhile ago. Had this project almost done but needed a little finishing. So finished up today. 1st pic is case closed. 2nd pic is it opened up showing back. 3rd pic shows it opened up on the inside of sewing kit.
It holds needles, pins, a tiny cutting board, scissors and whatever you need to have for sewing on the go. I messed up the part with the zipper. I sewed it on wrong. Still works but off center.

Also pulled out a old project I forgot about that I started with friend Delana in 2012.
Delana posted that she was finishing up hers and that motivated me to find mine.
1st pic is from pattern in magazine.
This next picture is all the pieces I have finished. I have the pincushion, scissor fob, all done and ready to put together.
The needle book is almost done. The front is complete but still need to finish some for back.
I started the top yesterday for the sewing box.I already have cording to put together.
Want to finish by Christmas so maybe my hubby will surprise me with the shaker sewing box and shaker pin cushion box as gift. They cost a lot. Around 200.00 for both. Wow...but so worth it after all of the hard work making them. But wanted to finish before I get them.

Crazy week

Here are two of my Lucy Boston blocks that I have sewn together by hand. It is taking a lot longer than I expected. Lol
When I first started this quilt I found a really cool cream/ beige fabric that i thought would look good  for the border . Decided to only get 1 yard of material to see if  it would work. On Sunday started adding around one of the blocks and decided I really love the colors all together. So Monday I went to a quilt shop in Waldo Ohio called Serendipitee and bought more for quilt.
While I was there I found this barn quilt book. I have always loved old barns. So you know me.... had to get. Also ordered another barn book that came in mail today. Can't wait to start a quilt using both of these books.
On Tuesday I canned 8 more Quarts of Apple pie filling. We have 4 apple trees and this is the 1st year one is producing apples. I am so glad all 4 didn't produce this year. But next year we will have apples out our ears. Lol
Last Thursday and Friday I went to Michigan with Bruce for his work and while I was there found a great antique/craft shop and found a lot of antique buttons that I'm still sorting thru. Finding some really cool ones and looking up on internet.
Here is a picture from the Lucy Bostons book that I said on my last post that I would post to give you a idea of what I am making,

Can we say hexagons?

It's been awhile! But my buddy Delana has inspired me to blog again.
I've been quilting a lot lately and been working on Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses.
It's a very long process. First you start with a 1 inch template.

Then you choose fabric and trace then cut.
Then I used fabric glue to tack down edges on back.
You make a lot of these. I mean ALOT!
Then I used a print out and taped down pieces how I want them and put in protector page.
Here is all of the blocks ready to sew. And I mean hand sew. Crazy am I:)
I still have to cut about 500 more for border and around each block and also have to cut little squares to put in also. I just started sewing.
On the next 2 pics is where I sewed together 2 and sewing all together on 1st block.I'm getting about 30 to 32 stitches  a inch. Wow! This is gonna take forever.lol
I'm doing mine in all creams and reds. Pics don't do it Justice:)
I will post a pic of cover of book pic.  so you can see end result. I was going for a queen size and now .........well.......
Wall hanging size. Lol

Sunday, March 30, 2014

It's been a long month :)

So I've been really bad at getting my daily posts up because really not worked on anything. Last Tues. I skyped with Delana and it was really cool how it felt like we were together at Starbucks crafting again. While we skyped I got 2 puffs done. That was Tues. All was good until that night and the flu hit me hard and kicked my ass! Lol
I was in bed wed thru Fri and could not do anything. Flu and I had a fight and the flu won .lol

Then Yesterday had to go move Brandi out of dorm and in her apartment . It poured rain the whole day and driving home it snowed. What the hell is up with this weather?
Left at 5 am and didn't get home till 10 pm. Long day! But got her moved in and took her dog and 2 gecko's to her.
Today I  did 7 puffs and had enough of one color to join flower.
So here is the puff breakdown.
Did 16 puffs for march as of last Tues.and did 9 puffs total this week.so tomorrow I have to do 6 puffs to catch up for March.

I decided I'm gonna go around flower puffs with this green apple color . So main color of quilt will be apple green.I ordered 10 balls and have one.Hopefully it will be enough.

Talked to Delana last night and she helped me figure out what I did wrong:)
So started over and I think its all good now.Did not make puff but did put together 2 that needed joined.

I'm really enjoying cross stitching again. I need Delana to motivate me to get puffs going again:)
I think I need Skype time tomorrow with my bff Delana:)
